No luck for Bonnie Tyler in Eurovision
Once again the UK finished in the lower end of the ranking in this years Eurovision song contest. The british eurovision entry "Believe in me" sung by the veteran singer Bonnie Tyler finished 19th in this year contest. The song written by Desmond Child recived 23 point from only 7 countries. This result is just the latest in a long streak of bad results for the United Kingdom with only one top 10 placing in the last 10 years and buzz on social medias are quick to blame Bonnie's performance and her age (61) as well as the usual "nobody likes us"-whining.
Perhaps the british need to evaluate their own attitude towards the eurovision. If over 35 years of watching the eurovision has tought me anything, it's that it's not possible to "design a winner" when around 40 countries enter with the same intentions. Hiring famous people like Bonnie Tyler, Desmond Child, Engelbert Humberdinck, Dianne Warren and Andrew Lloyd-Webber does not gaurantee a victory. I think Child's song is decent enough, but it does not have eurovision winner qualities and when you look at his list of hits, it's hard to understand why it it didn't.
